Unschooling Teens with Karla Marie Williams

Unschooling Teens

Karla Marie Williams is a speaker, writer, global child advocate and unschooling mom to 6 kids. Yes, that’s right, 6 kids, who are almost all at or in their teen years.

Karla Marie is also the President of Be Bold Publishing. I welcomed her on the show to celebrate the release of her new book, Teens Unleashed. Teens Unleashed offers real life, hands on expereience and practical tips to help you support your unschooling teens.

In this Episode

In this episode Karla Marie and I not only discuss her wonderful new book, but we also talk about their journey into unschooling, the transition process from the early years to the teen/young adult years and we break down the big theme of TRUST.

That’s right, the big T word that is the foundation of this exciting learning journey.

Karla Marie shares why Trust is foundational, what has helped her to trust the process and the tools that implements for support.

There is so much value in this episode for parents! If you are working through the deschooling process, if you are looking to start trusting yourself, your child and the learning process more, this episode is for you. That is whether you are the parent of a teen or not.

For those that are unschooling teens or are considering unschooling your teen, here are a few other specifics that we covered;

  • Grieving the early years (when they have grown past the early years and how the learning days shift and change)
  • The gift of seeing who they are
  • Strewing
  • Focused Learning
  • Exposure Ignites Fires (Why our job as parents to unschooled teens becomes ‘exposure’ for their purpose, passion and direction)
  • What they need and where they are going
  • What are colleges looking for?
  • Learning is in the doing
  • The illusion of mastery
  • Not allowing fear to get in the way

I would love to hear your thoughts on this episode. Did it inspire you? Would you like further discussion on any specific themes we brought up? You can message me on my Contact Page or DM me via Instagram of FB.
